Standing

for a Cure

$3,770 towards $4,000

June 1st, I will be the big "60". I am able to pull myself up to standing if I have a counter or railing in front of me to hang onto for dear life and the chair right behind me in case I fall backwards. That week I will stand one hour a day for a total of 5 hours. Will you sponsor me? All donations will go to medical research to find a cure for my son and I.

Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for Spastic Paraplegia Foundation, Inc. Last year 97% of donated dollars went directly to research. We have very little overhead. We are all volunteers. All board members either have HSP, PLS or have a family member that is affected. I joined the board of the Spastic Paraplegia Foundation about fifteen years ago and work everyday to make Matt's life better than mine.

I have had HSP about 27 years and Matt about 10 years. We are both ready for it to be over. Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia is a hereditary progressive motor neuron disease. It is similar to ALS. When I was diagnosed I walked totally normal, I just tripped more than than I should. More people in my family have this than do not. There are so many positive things happening in the medical research world but it all costs lots of money.

A young boy was walking along the shoreline, throwing stranded starfish into the sea. A man walks by him and tells him that he is not making a difference. As he throws another into the sea, he responds, "It sure makes a difference to that one".

Every dollar does make a difference.

We want to walk normal again.
