Most of you have known me for a long time and know that I have Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia. HSP is in the same family as ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). It is a rare, degenerative motor neuron disease that affects my mobility. I regularly receive treatments that help the stiffness I feel on a daily basis, but there is no cure.
Currently, scientists have found approximately 80 Spastin gene mutations that can cause HSP. Continued research is needed to find the cause of these bad genes and subsequently how to fix them. We are on the precipice of great things and I need your help.
