Sage was diagnosed with the rare genetic disorder called Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia on May 2, 2022. Her type is SPG30 with K1F1A being the affected gene. Primarily her legs are the most affected and will progressively weaken and become more spastic overtime leading to increased pain and discomfort. However her type of HSP is also considered complicated, meaning more than just her legs are affected. She also suffers from hand tremors, speech difficulty, and impaired learning.

August 20-27th is HSP awareness week and we want to use that time to spread awareness and also raise money for medical research into HSP and maybe even a possible cure in the future. There is so much still unknown about the disease and before genetic testing became more readily available it was often misdiagnosed as cerebral palsy.

Sage is a fighter with the best attitude! We want to show her an example of doing hard things and never giving up! So, with every $100 donated, we are pledging to run/walk/roll 1 mile as a family during awareness week! Please consider donating to our cause, joining us in running, walking, or rolling these miles, and or joining us in prayer for Sage and others like her facing a lifelong battle.
